"And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will slay with the breath of His mouth and annihilate by the majesty of His arrival."
- 2 Thessalonians 2:8
All you who are weary of wickedness in the world look up! All you who are battered by satan's temptations, hear the trumpet herald! All you who long for His return, behold your Beloved upon the mountaintops! For in these verses, the apostle not only warns us of the devices of the evil one: satan, in these last days but also assures us of his doom and demise at the hands of the King of the universe.
Be in awe of the power and strength of this King! Many kings of this earth often labour to draw up strategies and amass armies to try and defeat their enemies through a prolonged war. But this cosmic Commander: Christ Jesus slays the devil by the mere breath from His mouth. By the breath of His words, God formed the universe with its solar systems, galaxies, and planets, and by that same breath He will snuff out the devil like a flickering candle. And sin, sorrow, suffering and death shall not so much as be a dream in our minds anymore.
But also see His majesty on display! The weapon by which Christ will slay the evil one will not be by some dark side to His character but rather Christ will slay the devil by the very blinding radiance of His absolute goodness and beauty wiping out all evil! Here is Light engulfing the darkness. Here is Purity washing all filth. This is Majesty crushing tyranny. This is Love drowning hatred. This is Life killing death.
Are you reading this and you are a child of God through Christ Jesus? Do not give up your battle against sin for victory was announced for you before the foundation of the world! Do not drown in the news for you will only sink into despair, but fix your eyes on Christ through His word and you shall be strengthened with joy in Him. Be ready my comrades for His day is near and:
"When the roll is called up yonder we'll be there!"
